Abstract/Description: This paper primarily focuses on the use of paraprofessionals in college and university career services, including both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as persons not currently enrolled in school. However, much of what is covered may be applicable to other student and human services settings. The intent is to share information gathered from a variety of sources including the current literature, web sites, listservs, telephone interviews, and the authors’ personal experience. Topics include discussion of program titles, recruitment and selection, the training process, roles of paraprofessionals, supervision and evaluation, challenges and issues, and concluding remarks.
